The Art of Jazz
Featuring Tommy Igoe
Direct from New York’s legendary Birdland, this extraordinary band brings a fine mix of jazz, funk, Brazilian, Latin, and world music together. Featuring the city’s finest musicians and led by drumming sensation Tommy Igoe, the Birdland All-Stars have been packing the house every Friday night at "The Jazz Corner of the World" for the past 10 years. For this tour, they have created new arrangements featuring music of David Bowie, The Police, and Steely Dan, as well as fresh interpretations of iconic works by Charlie Parker, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock. During the set, drawings and paintings on canvas, paper and iPad will by created by San Francisco artist Jeremy Sutton, all inspired by the live music onstage. The audience will enjoy watching the art unfold in real time and have an opportunity to bid on and take home the one-of-a-kind, site-specific pieces created during the show. Don’t miss this "completely unique experience... there isn’t another band like this anywhere" (Time Out New York).
Tickets: $48, $41, $29
2 student tickets available with I.D. starting January 16, 2018.
A pre-performance discussion takes place at 6:15 pm in Grand Tier III with a Member of the Company.
