Jasmine Nikitenko and Yuri Nikitenko, founders and Artistic Directors of Northern Virginia Ballet/Academy of Russian Ballet will discuss what it takes to create a ballet from start to finish. During this discussion they, along with members of their company, will explain the process of selecting a ballet from rehearsal to design elements, and all the way to a final production. The costumes, demonstrations, videos, and stories make for an entertaining and informative evening for the whole family. This discussion will revolve around Northern Virginia Ballet/Academy of Russian Ballet’s performance of Coppélia, which was performed at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in May of 2019. Coppélia, a comedic ballet from 1870, is about love, magic, and mistaken identity.
