Welcome Irish music icon, Dervish, to the Center for a rousing celebration of Irish heritage just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. For more than 30 years, the sextet hailing from Ireland’s rugged and wild coast has become one of the biggest names in traditional Irish music. The internationally acclaimed ensemble includes some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians, including Cathy Jordan (vocals and drums), Shane Mitchell (accordion), Liam Kelly (flute/whistle), Brian McDonagh (mandola/mandolin), Tom Morrow (fiddle), and Michael Holmes (bouzouki). From music festivals to an impromptu performance on the Great Wall of China, Dervish delights crowds across the continents with its passion, lyricism, and high energy. Recent recipients of the BBC Folk Lifetime Achievement Award, The Guardian says, “Dervish are simply brilliant…They carry Irish history with them.”
