Jim Carroll, artistic director

Audience favorite the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra returns with a stylish celebration of the women who defined the cool jazz era. Led by founder, artistic director, and virtuoso saxophonist Jim Carroll, the orchestra—comprised of many of the region’s finest musicians—sets the stage for an evening of smoky ballads and finger-snapping swing. Vocalists Darden Purcell and Sara Jones bring to life the music of Peggy Lee, June Christy, Chris Connor, and Anita O’Day. This sparkling program captures the wit, elegance, and irresistible groove of mid-century American song at its coolest.

This performance is appropriate for all ages.
