In their 50th anniversary celebration, Pilobolus turns their traditions sideways and brings its past into the future in a thoroughly engaging new way. As fresh and vibrant as ever, Pilobolus puts the “Oh!” in BIG FIVE-OH!, as they continue to morph into audiences’ hearts and minds. Pieces range from the high voltage Megawatt (2004) to the moving meditation Shizen (1978), which focuses on the human form as dancers embody the forces and themes of nature. Solo from the Empty Suitor (1980) is a comedic masterpiece highlighting the humor of the group, while Shadow piece (2007) is an innovation of shadow theater initially performed at the 79th Academy Awards. Day 2 (1980) shows off the athletic feats and mind-bending expressions of joy, darkness and exuberant elemental energy as bodies move together toward a joyous finale. From the vintage and visionary to the recent and electrifying, Pilobolus continues to wow audiences with its irresistible mix of wit, sensuality, and stunning physical acumen.
